August 05, 2008.10:54 Back to Spain
Heya again,
So I decided to leave India around 1 month ago, I'm pretty excited since I get to be in Spain with my girlfriend, family and old friends once again. It's going to be an interesting project!
I'm freelancing for Exigent, and if necessary for other companies as well, otherwise I can't live here. After leaving Asian lands, everything seems so freaking expensive :( I'm planning on going back to India when I'm bored of having a normal life, and I want some spicy culture and Maharaja lifestyle, but I really could use a break from all that, for now.
Anyways, apart from all that boring stuff, I finished Dominance War III, Batou and Pelé during the last 4-5 months, which is not bad at all for having been moved to a different country and working my ass off all day.
So next project I'm working on right now, is in collaboration with my friend Jesus Conde, who I met when he was working as concept artist @ Boanerges Studios. He's done some nice concepts I'll try to make justice to. I'm not going for a model this time, I'll try to fully texture and render.
That's all. Cheers guys!
Albert.
November 20, 2007.17:50 In first place...why in india?
Yeesss I am here again. Let's hope to keep this ratio.
I am born in Catalunya, Spain, raised and lived there until February 2006. Then I went to San Diego, US, for some on site work with the company I used to do contract with, Boanerges Studios, and after 4 months to India. Many fellows on the office, obviously Indian natives, ask me: WHAT THE FUCK U DOING IN INDIA???
The reason why they ask is because lots of Indians are so obsessed with getting out of the country and get 10x the money that forget what the whole thing is about.
Living in India is fucking cheap, I mean, RIDICULOUSLY cheap. So if you just get, lets say...a thousand bucks a month, you are going to live in 5 star resorts, with swimming pool, gym, gardens, etc and still have spare money. I'm not kidding, the place I live is around 800 and It's nice and really clean, like....not India at all. But that's only the beggining. My company, Exigent 3D pays for my housing so I just have to worry about food and free time..........which is about 2 dollars a meal, or 3 bucks for cinema. So yeah, Indian fellows, living in India is actually confortable if you get a decent job in one of the so many of CG companies lying around the country...
Then yes, I get really angryyy when they ask me that, because even if I learn from being here, they learn much more from me (or at least they did at some point) so...why do you ask? enjoy while you can!!
Well anyways, after all that, the real reason is: I was in US, they shut the thing, gave me good offer in terms of living conditions, took a plane after 2 weeks, and it's been 18 months of living in a different universe, where I got to see my girlfriend 2 months when I parted, and 2 months last summer.......but she is really busy finishing Medicine anyways
I also have the chance of having the historical game artist Paul Steed as CCO of Exigent3D (the company I started with Boanerges pals), art directing most of the stuff and being a good mate in many occasions, which is really fruitful and I doubt would get in many companies around the world. Projects in here are also so cool and so variate that I really doubt I would get to work on so many characters anywhere else. Also training and seeing how they become great artists is a huge satisfaction.
That said, see you next time!!
November 19, 2007.17:04 Hello blog
Hello! mmmh I'm so sleepy todayy. The reason is I didn't sleep to finish the HCM #11 (Hank the Werewolf)....but it turned out kinda well for the time given so I'm all excited and cannot sleep.
Then I visited my portfolio, which was completely abandoned for half year, and it said I was using only the 40% of all the advantages it gives me....so I thought, what happens if I get to 100%!! all this unexplored world of oportunities will come across, and here I am, trying to make use of my CGSociety membership after the 3rd year haha.
Tomorrow I will explain who I am, and wtf I'm doing in India for 18 months! (yes, I've survived all that time)
